On June 28, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced that it had launched a preliminary investigation into a man, identified as A, for repeatedly throwing food items inside a studio apartment building in Mapo District. The investigation began after the building owner, B, filed an official complaint.

According to the complaint, the incidents began in July 2023 and continued through June 2024, with A throwing drinks and noodles into common areas such as elevators and stairwells on at least four occasions.

On July 17, 2023, A posted mocking posters at the building entrance with sarcastic comments. In October of the same year, he threw coffee on the first floor. In January 2024, CCTV captured A throwing ramen inside the elevator. Most recently, on June 26, A was seen on video throwing a cup of black-bean ramen down the stairwell while singing the product’s commercial jingle and recording the scene on his phone.

What’s particularly unusual is that A reportedly has no known relationship with B or any reason for holding a grudge. “I don’t know this person at all,” B told investigators, expressing frustration over tenant complaints and the resulting stress.

Police are currently verifying facts, including the motive behind the repeated food-throwing and whether the actions involved unauthorized entry. Based on the investigation outcome, A could face formal criminal charges.
