Kim Sun-tae, the civil servant behind Chungju City’s official YouTube channel “ChungTV,” has denied reports that he received a job offer from the Presidential Office. While confirming he met a related official, he said it was merely an informal conversation.

Kim stated, “We talked, but there was no concrete job offer.”

He explained he received a message from a Presidential Office official and met for about 10 minutes, describing it as a casual talk about his future plans and interest in public service. He added that the report about a job offer left him “very surprised.”

Earlier reports had suggested he was considering moving to the Presidential Office and had been offered a position.

🔹 The creator who built the “ChungTV” phenomenon
Kim entered public service in 2016 and began managing the city’s YouTube channel in 2018. His unconventional humor, bold concepts, and on-site editing style gained wide popularity and changed public-sector communication methods.

The channel gained around 970,000 subscribers—more than four times the city’s population—and became a benchmark case that encouraged other municipalities to launch YouTube channels.

He was promoted to Grade-6 civil servant in late 2023 in recognition of his achievements.
