A video showing a middle school girl slapping a peer multiple times and forcing her to count out loud has spread on social media, prompting police investigation in Songdo, Incheon.
According to Incheon Yeonsu Police Station on the 3rd, a report was received the previous day that a school violence video had been uploaded on social media.
The video, titled “2023 Songdo Middle School Violence,” is about 1 minute and 39 seconds long.
It shows a girl, referred to as A, slapping another girl, B, seven times with her hand in what appears to be an apartment parking lot.
During the assault, A ordered B to count the hits out loud, and B tearfully complied, saying “one, two…”
At one point, B, unable to endure the pain, pleaded with A to hit the other cheek instead, adding to the shock.
Several other students were present but did not intervene, instead laughing or filming the scene.
The video was reportedly filmed in November last year, and personal information such as A’s real name and contact details have since been spread in the comments, raising privacy concerns.
After the controversy spread, a social media post by someone claiming to be A admitted fault, saying, “It’s completely my fault a hundred or a thousand times,” and apologized to the victim and the public.
She added, “I want to quietly accept punishment and live a quiet life,” warning against further leaking of her personal information and threatening legal action.
Police are currently investigating the details based on the footage and reports.

2. Deaf Person Denied Entry to Restaurant with Service Dog
A case in which a deaf person accompanied by a service dog was denied entry to a restaurant has gained public attention.
According to a post on Instagram on the 2nd, the incident occurred on March 30 at a restaurant in Galma-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon.
The writer, Mr. A, said, “I repeatedly showed the service dog’s vest and the certification issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, but was met with comments like, ‘Only guide dogs for the blind are allowed,’ irritated responses, and threats to call the police.”
In the video, Mr. A presents the service dog certification while trying to enter the restaurant with his hearing assistance dog, Gureumi.
A restaurant staff member insisted, “Only guide dogs for the visually impaired are allowed.”
Mr. A responded by showing promotional videos featuring Gureumi, but the staff told him to wait outside, saying they needed to check first.
When Mr. A saw what appeared to be a gesture to come in, he tried to enter but was blocked again, with the staff threatening to call the police.
Mr. A said, “I believed the police would resolve the matter, but even they sided with the restaurant, saying things like ‘Do deaf people even have guide dogs?’ and ‘Aren’t you lying and bringing in a pet?’”
Despite offering to connect a sign language interpreter, the restaurant remained uncooperative.
Only after Mr. A contacted the Korea Service Dog Association did the restaurant acknowledge the dog's legitimacy—but Mr. A chose not to dine there.
According to the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities Act, it is illegal to deny entry to people with service dogs without justifiable reason, and violators can be fined up to 3 million won.
Legitimate reasons include spaces that require infection control, like operating rooms or food storage areas.
