The identity of the perpetrator of the ‘Marine Corps dog bib bullet shooting’ has gone viral online.

On June 8 around 1 a.m., three men in their 20s staying at a pension in Ilun-myeon, Geoje, reportedly trespassed onto a nearby restaurant’s yard and fired hundreds of BB bullets at four dogs. According to the Korea Animal Rescue and Welfare Association, two of the dogs sustained serious eye and facial injuries, and one later died during treatment.

The suspects had reportedly checked the location of the dogs twice the day before, raising suspicion that the attack was premeditated. In an interview, the dog owner said, “When I asked why they did it, the suspect kept changing his explanation—first saying the dog bit them, then claiming it was a joke, and later blaming alcohol.” However, the pension owner stated the group had only consumed four small cans of beer.

Shockingly, only one of the suspects apologized. The parents of another suspect allegedly threatened the victim’s family, shouting, “You’re all dead now,” while taking pictures of the dog owner’s home. They also reportedly threatened legal action, stating they would file false accusation charges against the victim.

As the case spread across social media, netizens began sharing the suspects’ personal information, including their military unit, names, dates of birth, schools, and even photographs. Public anger has prompted petitions demanding severe punishment.

Police have handed the cases of the two marines over to the military, while the civilian has been booked on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act, trespassing, and property damage. Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive and the type of BB gun used.

One-line summary : Two Marines and a civilian fired a cluster bomb at a dog, killing one and wounding two others, and the perpetrators' identities have been circulating online.
