The Incheon Ganghwa Police Station announced on the 1st that they had urgently arrested a woman in her 50s, identified as A, on charges of attempted murder. Her son-in-law, B, in his 30s, was also arrested on charges of attempted patricide for aiding in the attack.

According to police, A entered a closed café around 1 a.m. in Ganghwa County, where her husband C, also in his 50s, had been staying and sleeping after drinking. She used a knife to sever his genitals while he was unconscious. B reportedly accompanied her and helped carry out the crime.

C had been living in the closed café for about a week, thanks to the owner’s permission. After the attack, A and B fled the scene and returned home. Despite his injuries, C managed to walk outside and asked a passing taxi driver to call emergency services.

Emergency responders transported C to the hospital. While his life is not in danger, the severed organ reportedly could not be reattached. C also had additional stab wounds on his face and arms, suggesting multiple assaults.

During police questioning, A confessed that she committed the act because she suspected her husband of cheating. Investigators are now trying to determine whether the attack was premeditated and the full extent of B’s involvement.

A police spokesperson stated, “We are currently reviewing whether to request arrest warrants for both suspects. Once the victim recovers, we will take his statement to clarify the full circumstances of the incident.”
