MC Mong Faces Allegations of Years-Long Gambling Trips to Las Vegas…USD 3.82 Million Casino Loan Records Surface

📍KakaoTalk messages, Excel files, and flight records revealed…Individual denies all allegations

MC Mong (real name Shin), a famous singer-turned-producer, has become embroiled in allegations that he engaged in gambling trips to Las Vegas, United States, involving tens of billions of won over several years. Police have obtained related intelligence and are reviewing the facts, while the individual has denied all accusations.

🔹 Repeated Las Vegas Visits Over Several Years…Overseas Gambling Allegations Raised
According to a TV Chosun report, police have obtained intelligence related to overseas gambling allegations involving Shin, who is active as a singer and producer, and are reviewing fact-finding procedures in accordance with standard protocols. Shin is widely known as the singer MC Mong.

The core of the allegations is that Shin repeatedly gambled at hotel casinos in Las Vegas from August 2023 to January 2025, during which time he allegedly used casino credit loans amounting to tens of billions of won.

🔹 Entertainment Agency Chairman’s KakaoTalk Messages Revealed…“I Paid It Back Instead”
According to the report, in June last year, Cha, the chairman of the entertainment agency to which Shin belongs, mentioned gambling-related circumstances involving Shin in KakaoTalk conversations with company associates.

The conversation included a photo of an Excel file listing Shin’s English name along with amounts in U.S. dollars, and Cha reportedly uploaded the file while stating that he had “paid it back on his behalf.”

🔹 Excel File Lists USD 3.82 Million…Includes Casino ‘Marker Loan’ Numbers
The Excel file in question reportedly listed amounts totaling USD 3.82 million—approximately KRW 5.4 billion—from August 2023 to January 2025.

It also reportedly included the names of two hotel casinos in Las Vegas, along with ML numbers indicating ‘Marker Loans,’ a short-term credit system provided by casinos to VIP customers. Marker loans allow high-stakes gamblers to borrow funds without carrying cash.

🔹 Flight Records and Audio Files…“The Money Was Used for Gambling”
Electronic airline tickets obtained by TV Chosun reportedly showed records of Shin and Cha traveling between Los Angeles and Las Vegas around the time the casino credit loans were issued.

A company associate who accompanied them at the time reportedly stated, “I heard that Shin was playing games at a casino during the trip.”

In addition, an audio recording obtained by the media reportedly contains Cha saying, “At the time of the acquisition in 2022, I paid off KRW 2 billion. After meeting the former investor, I found out that the money had been used for gambling.” Cha later explained, however, that while he did repay the debt, he was not aware it was gambling-related.

🔹 MC Mong: “No Gambling Took Place…Loan Records Are Fabricated”
In response, Shin stated, “I have visited Las Vegas for work purposes, but I have never engaged in gambling,” adding, “The casino loan records and related materials presented as evidence are all false.”

He further claimed, “The debt arose after a planned album production fell through and is completely unrelated to gambling.”

🔹 Police Reviewing Whether to Launch Full Investigation
Police are reportedly reviewing whether to initiate formal fact-finding procedures, focusing on whether Shin engaged in overseas gambling and on the flow of funds based on the submitted materials and testimonies.
