[26.02.11] Gangbuk Motel Death Case: Woman Arrested Over Suspected Drug-Laced Drinks
📍Possible link to another motel death; police suspect drug-laced drink and consider murder charges
A man in his 20s was found dead at a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, and police have arrested a woman in her 20s who stayed with him. Authorities are expanding the investigation after identifying a possible connection to another motel death involving the same suspect.

🔹 Circumstances of the Incident
On Feb. 11, the Gangbuk Police Station announced that a woman in her 20s, identified as A, was urgently arrested on charges of injury resulting in death and violation of the Narcotics Control Act.
A entered a motel in Suyu-dong with a man in his 20s, identified as B, at around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 and left alone about two hours later.
At approximately 5:40 p.m. the next day, a motel employee discovered B dead on the bed in a curled position and reported it to police.
🔹 Scene Findings and Condition of the Body
Police stated that no visible wounds or bloodstains indicating external assault were found on the body. An ID card and beer cans were reportedly discovered at the scene.
Investigators believe A may have given B a drink containing an unidentified substance, which possibly led to his death.
🔹 Arrest of the Suspect
Through CCTV analysis and movement tracking, police identified A and arrested her around 9 p.m. the same day.
During questioning, A acknowledged staying at the motel with the victim but reportedly did not provide a clear statement regarding the suspected drug.
🔹 Possible Link to Another Death
Police are also investigating a potential connection to another death.
Late last month, another man, identified as C, was found dead at a different motel in Gangbuk-gu. Authorities confirmed that A had been in the same room with him, and circumstances indicate he also drank an unidentified beverage provided by A before his death.
🔹 Investigation Direction and Future Measures
Police are conducting an autopsy and toxicology tests with the National Forensic Service to determine whether drugs were mixed in the drinks given to the victims.
They are also examining motive, sequence of events, and possible premeditation. Depending on the results, investigators may apply murder charges and seek a detention warrant.
