Paris Baguette, Tous Les Jours Cut Prices by Up to 10,000 Won Amid Inflation Policy

📍Move Aligns With Government’s Inflation Stabilization Policy

South Korea’s largest bakery franchises, Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours, announced price cuts on selected bread and cake products. The move follows recent declines in sugar and flour prices and aligns with the government’s push to stabilize consumer prices.

🔹 Paris Baguette to Lower Prices on 11 Items
Paris Baguette said it will reduce prices on 11 products starting next month. Six bread items will see reductions ranging from 100 won to 1,000 won. Red bean bread, soboro bread, and custard cream bread will be adjusted from 1,600 won to 1,500 won, while whole grain oat bread will fall from 4,200 won to 3,990 won.

Three-piece castella will drop from 3,500 won to 2,990 won, and French Bousset will fall from 2,500 won to 1,500 won. Five character-themed cakes will be discounted by up to 10,000 won.

🔹 Tous Les Jours to Cut Supply Prices by 8.2% on Average
Operated by CJ Foodville, Tous Les Jours will lower supply prices on 17 items by an average of 8.2%. Sixteen bread items will see reductions of 100 to 1,100 won starting next month. Its popular character cake “Latso Berry Good Day” will be sold at 19,000 won, down by 10,000 won.

🔹 Reflecting Lower Flour Prices
The price cuts follow earlier reductions in flour prices — 4% for business-use products and 5.5% for consumer-use products. Flour is a core cost component in bakery production, and recent stabilization in sugar and other raw material prices has provided room for adjustments.

🔹 Regulatory Pressure and Policy Context
CJ CheilJedang, currently under investigation by the Korea Fair Trade Commission over alleged flour price collusion, also announced an additional 5% cut in flour prices.

Earlier, Fair Trade Commission Chair Joo Byung-gi suggested that flour prices implicated in collusion allegations should be lowered by at least 10%. President Lee Jae-myung also stressed that reductions in raw material costs should benefit consumers.

One-line summary : Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours cut bread and cake prices by up to 10,000 won amid government pressure to stabilize consumer prices.
