Korean Gang Members Arrested in Ho Chi Minh Suitcase Murder

📍Two Korean men linked to Daegu–Gyeongbuk crime groups suspected of killing and abandoning a Korean fraud ring leader amid financial disputes

A shocking incident in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, has revealed that both the suspects and the victim in a suitcase murder case are Korean nationals with deep ties to organized crime. The victim, a major voice-phishing ringleader, was allegedly killed by two young Korean gang members following financial conflicts involving cyber gambling and illegal assets.

Korean suspects who murdered a man and are transporting his body in a blue bagThe suspects abandoned the bag containing the body at the entrance of an apartment building in Ho Chi Minh City and fled.
The suspects in the case of a Korean man found dead inside a large suitcase in a residential area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, have been confirmed to be members of an organized crime group active in South Korea.

🔹 Discovery of the Crime: Body Found in Large Suitcase
On the afternoon of January 23, local police received reports of a strong odor emanating from a large blue suitcase left near an apartment complex in Ho Chi Minh. Upon inspection, officers found the body of a Korean man in his 30s. Two Korean men in their 20s, who fled the scene by abandoning the suitcase and taking a taxi, were apprehended shortly afterward.

🔹 Suspects Identified as Korean Gang Members
Investigations confirmed that one of the suspects, B (25), had previously been a member of the “Soyapa” gang in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, before recently joining the “Wolbaepa” in Daegu. The other suspect, C (24), was identified as an affiliate of the “Daeshindongpa” gang in Daegu.

Both had previously served prison sentences—B for organized crime charges and C for sexual offenses—and had been recently released.

🔹 Victim Also a Criminal Figure: Voice-Phishing Leader
The victim, A, was identified as a high-ranking leader of a voice phishing crime syndicate operating across Cambodia and neighboring Southeast Asian regions. He was also wanted by Korean authorities for fraud-related crimes.

Local investigators believe that B and C, struggling with financial losses from gambling and money laundering operations, targeted A to steal the approximately 130 million KRW (USD ~$100,000+) in cash and cryptocurrency he possessed.

There are also reported indications that the suspects were under the influence of drugs at the time of the killing.

🔹 Crime Details: Beating, Killing, and Abandonment
Police suspect that the two men assaulted A to death, placed his body in a large suitcase, and abandoned it in a residential area. The advanced state of decomposition suggests A died earlier than the discovery date. A full autopsy is expected to determine the cause of death, time of death, and disposal process.

🔹 Prosecution Under Vietnam’s Territorial Jurisdiction
Because the crime occurred on Vietnamese territory, the suspects are expected to be prosecuted and tried under Vietnamese law before any discussions of deportation or extradition.

A Korean police official stated:
“Local authorities are currently leading the investigation. If the suspects are eventually returned to Korea, additional questioning will be conducted based on Vietnam’s findings.”

One-line summary : Two Korean gang members from Daegu and Gyeongbuk were arrested for killing a voice phishing boss in Ho Chi Minh and disposing of the body in a suitcase.
