25.07.15.Today News : Mother Arrested for Breaking Into School to Steal Exam Papers — Daughter Expelled
A mother who broke into a high school at night in an attempt to steal exam papers has been arrested, along with a school employee who aided the crime. The student who received the stolen test materials has been expelled.

On July 15, the Andong Branch of the Daegu District Court issued arrest warrants for a woman in her 40s (A) and a school staff member in his 30s (B), citing concerns about potential evidence tampering and flight risk. The day prior, C, a part-time teacher who conspired in the crime, had already been taken into custody.
According to police, the mother and teacher illegally entered D High School in Andong at 1:20 a.m. on July 4 to steal exam papers. They were aware that printed test sheets are temporarily stored in certain areas like the faculty office or printing room. The school’s security system detected the intrusion, thwarting the attempt.
B, a school facilities manager, is accused of aiding the intrusion by knowingly allowing the suspects access. Police also uncovered evidence suggesting a monetary transaction occurred between A and C.
Further investigation revealed that teacher C had previously worked at D High School and was currently employed at another high school in Gyeonggi Province. Additionally, C had been privately tutoring A’s daughter, E, since her middle school years — a direct violation of South Korea’s law prohibiting teachers from offering private tutoring.
E has been booked without detention for obstruction of business after receiving the stolen exam papers and using them during the test. The school has nullified her grades and officially expelled her following an internal review.
The case has reignited concerns about academic fairness and teacher misconduct. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the full extent of the conspiracy and financial exchanges involved.
