25.07.16.Today News : Yeosu's ‘Baekgeum Sikdang’ controversy with honbap YouTubers
A YouTuber who visited a popular restaurant in Yeosu recommended by celebrities was humiliated and pressured to leave during her meal, sparking widespread backlash online.

On July 3, the YouTube channel Yunanhi Oneul uploaded a video titled “5 Must-Try Restaurants in Yeosu Recommended by Celebrities,” including one praised by singer Sung Si-kyung, host Jeon Hyun-moo, cartoonist Heo Young-man, and YouTuber Pungja.
One of the restaurants featured was Ttoganjib, famously recommended by Pungja in her YouTube series. The YouTuber explained she decided to visit out of curiosity after seeing Pungja’s glowing review. Since solo diners were not allowed, she ordered food for two, totaling 26,000 KRW (approximately $19), and quietly began her meal.
However, midway through the meal, the restaurant owner suddenly approached her and sternly said, “Young lady, this isn’t a place for people who come alone.” The YouTuber, caught off guard, turned on her camera to record the confrontation.
The owner continued to pressure her to eat quickly, saying, “We need the table for reserved customers,” even though the YouTuber claims there was no waiting line at the time. When she pointed out she had only been there for 20 minutes and had ordered for two, the owner dismissively responded, “For just 20,000 won?”
Eventually, feeling humiliated and unable to continue eating, the YouTuber decided to leave. Although the restaurant refused to take payment, she later transferred the amount via mobile banking and tearfully expressed her frustration. “It felt impossible to eat after being rushed like that,” she said in the video, visibly shaken.
The video quickly went viral, triggering outrage from viewers. Many netizens pointed out similar complaints in online reviews, accusing the restaurant of mistreating solo diners. Some comments read, “Even locals say this isn’t the first time,” “That owner is ruining their own business,” and “Disrespecting paying customers is unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, Ttoganjib has not released a statement and reportedly disabled review functions on several platforms.
Despite the incident, the YouTuber ended her video on a hopeful note, saying she would visit other restaurants in Yeosu to enjoy the local cuisine and move on from the unpleasant experience.
Meanwhile, the restaurant was known as ‘Baekgeum Sikdang’ in Yeosu.
